The Washington State SBA Small Business Awards' Event - A Big Night for Small Business - was held in Seattle on April 8th at the Marion Oliver McCaw Hall at Seattle Center.

On April 9th, 1980 Howard Barkhoff, Beth Kahn and James McDonald filed the Articles of Incorporation for a Washington State Not-for-Profit called Seattle King County Community Development Association.

Top 25 industries for SBA 504 loans

What kinds of businesses get 504 loans?  Are they changing?  Answers to these questions can be found in new national data. The SBA has provided a report of the top 25 industries that utilized the SBA 504 program in FY 2009 and through February 28, 2010.

Partial Fee Relief Extended through May, 2010

New SBA 504 borrowers will continue to have the majority of their up-front fees paid by the Federal Government, at least through May.

  • Provide more capital to growing existing companies
  • Help more and larger small businesses expand
  • Refinance high cost existing debt at today's low rates

Alaska 2009 Partnership Awards presented

Evergreen Business Capital Senior Loan Officer Barbara Gill presented 2009 Partnership Awards for Alaska Community Lending Institution to Alaska Federal Credit Union, USA and to David Bennett for Community Lending Officer, acknowledging their commitment to helping small businesses grow through the SBA 504 Loan Program.

SBA now requires all Certified Development Companies to include some documentation in the file when they submit non-PCLP loans for authorization.

President signs fee reduction extension

Businesses will continue to have most of their up-front 504 loan program fees paid for them by the US Federal Government for at least another month. On March 2nd the US Senate passed HR 4691, the Temporary Extension Act of 2010, which will provide $60 million to extend the elimination of certain 504 program fees. The President signed the bill into law.
