If you were to start your own small business, what would it be?

I would want to continue working in the mortgage industry. So, I would be inclined to start a mortgage company or a bank. I'll bet that statement will draw a lot of laughs. Timing is everything isn't it? Now probably wouldn't be the best time for such a venture, but I'm not planning to do this now either, I'm just answering a hypothetical question. Anyone starting a small business today needs to take into consideration the effect the current economy would have on their plan. So, I'm not likely to be starting any new small business until I see a couple of quarters of economic improvement.

What do you like most about working for Evergreen?

First, I like the fact that I can do what I love to do, despite the down economy. With the SBA 504 we aren't constrained by all of the dynamics our financial partners are faced with on a daily basis. Secondly, I'm grateful that I can be part of the financing solutions for our lending partners today. It is rewarding to add credit enhancement to their loan and at the same time deliver the borrower a great long-term fixed rate loan to help them grow their business. I truly enjoy not only being a part of the delivery of the 504 loan program, with all of its great benefits and the win/win situation we are able to create for our borrowers and lenders, but also being part of the Evergreen team. All of our staff are truly the best at what they do and it is both gratifying and a privilege to work with each and every one every day.
